However, the employees are 100% union even though a good majority dont believe in it. If you are a strong good worker you do not need a union to protect you.
You will be paying union dues monthly, which are pointless because they do not benefit the good guys, the union tends to protect the bad workers.
However if you are neither of those, which most new hires are not. Unionized - Its real nice if you have been there 10+ years or more, and also if you are a worker who makes a lot of mistakes (ie: should be fired). The people doing all the work at this location are good people that are simply treated poorly by incompetent managers. The management here does not care about their employees, they care about numbers and what the people above them see when they look at reports. Even in the event of the explosion and fire on their own site, the management still refused to make improvements to move an emergency stop switch/button to a reasonable location in the event of a repeat situation. Communication is non-existent, there were multiple instances with other plants causing it to be unsafe to be in the area (ITC and Lubrizol) due to burning containers/silos and chemical leaks and the leadership still chose to keep the employees on site rather than allow them to evacuate regardless of whether the job was done for the day or not. HEXION DEER PARK was the worst example of HR, Unit Leaders, and Supervisors I ever had to work with in my 16 years of working in this industry.

They care more about their contractors and the perception of safety than they do about the guys that are full time and that care about making a career with this company.
This place does not care about their employees.īefore you work here ask about what the lowest paid employees make and what the turnaround is for new employees.
